best post pregnancy girdleAfter your baby’s birth, you’re exhausted; your stomach muscles are weak, your back is weak, your pelvic floor muscles are weak and having additional support to bring all your muscles and organs back together makes all the difference. This is where the best post pregnancy girdle comes in.

With each of my sons, I wore a belly band, or a girdle, afterwards and seeing the difference it made to wear them, I believe it is one of the best decisions I made in regards to my recovery.

It was amazing how much support they gave me and how much of a difference they made. Wearing a girdle immediately after your baby is born, can bring your stomach in several times faster than you would have been able to without one!

Even though the first ones I bought really started to bother me after a couple days because I’d gotten the cheap ones, I still noticed that anytime I went more than a day without wearing the girdle, my stomach would start to droop and protrude outwards and it actually hurt pretty badly.

I wouldn’t recommend the first couple girdles and splints I bought to anyone because, although they worked great at first, after a couple days  they started to bunch up and I was constantly pulling them straight. It was frustrating but it was definitely better than nothing!
The 3 Week Diet

The ones I had at first were also too tight! If you’ve had a C-section, wrapping a tight splint around your stomach is very painful 🙁 These girdles I’ve listed below are excellent because they gently hold your stomach in without putting unnecessary pressure on it. Once you’ve had a couple months to recover, then you’ll want to move to a splint that wraps tightly around your stomach and helps to bring it in more.

Here I’m going to be reviewing five girdles that are excellent for mothers to use the first couple months after their baby’s birth. Each of them are very good ones that can help manage diastasis recti, give support to your back and pelvic muscles, and help with your posture. Depending on each of your individual needs, some will work better than others.

Postpartum Girdle / Abdominal Binder by Wink

  • Rating: 4.5 out of 5

    Best Postpartum Girdle

    Postpartum Girdle – Wink

  • Price: $84.99 on Amazon
  • Designed for C-Section Recovery: Yes
  • Product Description: This is a compression girdle that was designed to give a mother’s stomach the much needed support it needs the first couple months after their baby is born. It is appropriate for mothers recovering from a C-Section as well as those who had a natural birth. This girdle contains  two layers of silky medical grade material that gently compress your stomach and help to hold it in place. It is seamless under your clothes and can also be worn as shapewear for your hips, stomach, and waist.
  • Benefits:
    • Is great for women, like myself, who suffer from diastasis recti. Helps to gently bring the stomach muscles back together.
    • It is very comfortable and, at the same time, it does a good job holding your stomach in.
    • Has an elastic band at the top that helps so it doesn’t bunch up or roll down/up like so many of the girdles and bands I had with my sons! (This is a big one for me)
    • Is sleek under clothing, not super noticeable like the ones that bunch up are
    • Nice, comfortable fabric
    • Opening in the bottom to make bathroom use easy and provide height adjustment
    • It covers your entire stomach instead of coming only halfway up your waist. Some girdles don’t cover your whole stomach you can bet your belly will start to hang out the top!
    • It has 3 hook sizes so you can make it smaller as you lose weight.

Pelv-Ice Mama Strut Postpartum Support Pelvic Binder System with Ice/Heat Therapy

  • Rating: 4.3 out of 5

    Postpartum Girdle for Natural Birth

    Postpartum Girdle – Mama Strut

  • Price: $112.50 on Amazon
  • Designed for C-Section Recovery: No, designed more for the purpose of easing perineum pain and swelling after birth
  • Product Description: This girdle supports all sides of the pelvis and is the first and only one I’ve seen that uses therapeutic heat and ice to help manage pain and swelling right where you need it after a natural birth! It supports your lower back, abdomen, hips,  and pelvic floor and is machine washable.
  • Benefits:
    • The biggest advantage this girdle has, in my opinion, is the therapeutic heat and ice management! After every single one of my sons I had to get stitches and having stitches for ten days afterwards was just as bad or worse than the labor! Something like this would have been amazing to have!
    • It is adjustable so that as your stomach gets smaller you can make it smaller
    • Provides gentle support to help bring your stomach back in immediately after your baby is born.
    • Many mothers have said their recovery process was much quicker when they used this compared to when they didn’t.
    • Breathable & Machine Washable

It provides great support for your stomach after you give birth and is especially designed for women who gave birth via C-section. It has hook and eye closures in front that protect and accommodate your incision scar and fits all body shapes. Bellefit also has another version designed for women who’ve had a natural birth and those who’ve had a C-Section that has a zipper down the side as well as the corset. This is a good advise. I am still on my 6th month and until now even did not think how I will recover after delivery.
Postpartum Girdle Wink looks great and and even sexy – good way to combine medical and esthetic purposes. However Bellefit Girdle Corset looks more professional and stronger. Still there is a time to think and choose.
Thank you for an informative post!

    • Jessica Camden says:

That is really exciting! I didn’t think about it myself either until I was just over 8 months with my kids. A girdle really does make all the difference and bellefit girdles are definitely much higher quality! I do wish they weren’t as expensive but you really will end up buying more than one of most nonexpensive ones.

There is plenty of time for you to decide though 🙂 I wish you the best of luck!

Hello here, I see hat you have great reviews about post pregnancy girdles.
I see that all your mentioned products are comfortable , and look good. They have price, but they last long time and what is most important that they do their job.
Getting back in shape is great feeling and thanks to our reviewed items, your customers can pick what fits for them in a best way.
I like colors and material, which seems to be comfortable and supporting belly and abs.
Thanks for helping and informative reviews, all the best, Nemira.

    • Jessica Camden says:

Yes the price is frustrating and that’s why many shy away from buying these. I first went with a cheaper one that was only $20 and within a week it was riding up/down and no longer worked the way it needed to. I ended up buying three and not one lasted more than a week or two. If I add up how much I’ve spent on the cheaper ones I could have gotten one of these and saved money.

      Thank you for reading!

Hi Jessica, it is true one can actually talk more of a situation or an experience better when and if one actually did experience the situation.

I glad to know the this post pregnancy girdle can actually be of a better use to woman after delivery.

Thanks for your review on this, it was very much informative

    • Jessica Camden says:

I agree, without having gone through my pregnancies and needing these afterwards I wouldn’t really be able to understand what it’s like after having a baby and what will help you in trying to get back in shape. I appreciate you reading and taking the time to leave me a comment 🙂

Thank you for providing some options for this postpartum. I feel that sometimes there is so much stress put on labour and delivery that the postpartum stage sometime is not recognized until women are experiencing it. Since I am now expecting my third child I look forward to trying something like this. What I found was a lot of my pain was in my lower back. would you recommend something that would help for lower back pain?

    • Jessica Camden says:

Lower back pain can be caused if you have diastasis recti or if you have pelvic girdle problems. How far into your pregnancy are you? Wendy’s MuTu system can actually be used during your pregnancy to alleviate back pain. I would recommend only using the Focus part of her program while you’re pregnant.

Another thing you might consider trying is a maternity belt. I ended up using one with my last pregnancy and it definitely helped take some of the pressure off my lower back. There are some great ones here. I really hope one of these can help! Let me know if you have any additional questions!

      Happy New Years!

  5. Esther says:

Do you know anything about the Squeem belly binder? If so, how would you rate it?

    • I actually hadn’t heard of that one before reading your review but I think it looks like an excellent option! I’ll probably add that to my page because it looks like it’s one that several moms have found success with! If I were going to rate it I’d probably give it a 4.5
I need to look into it more to see how effective it is for both c-sections and natural births. Thank you for bringing that one to my attention hun!

  6. Derek Marshall says:

Hey that’s great post. Something a lot of women have a difficulty with is getting their shape back after having a baby, some never really recover their figure. and struggle to fit into their pre-preganacy clothes.

If you have some advice regarding exercise and diet for my wife that would be great, bare in mind about the diet she is breast feeding just now.

    • Jessica Camden says:

Yes it’s definitely hard work and takes a lot of effort to get back into shape. My goal for my website is to outline the quickest route to getting your body back into shape after having a baby. Since your wife is breastfeeding I wouldn’t recommend she start any heavy workout routine just yet. She can use a girdle and incorporate some of the exercises I’ve listed here. These are simple exercises that target the inner abdominal muscles and help pull them back together. I also wouldn’t recommend dieting right now. She needs enough to make sure she’s eating healthy so that she can maintain both her body and feed your baby.
