Natural Stretch Mark Removal RemediesThere are several natural stretch mark removal remedies you can make use of right from your own home! Using things you probably already have in your house, you can easily prevent stretch marks by increasing the elasticity of your skin. You can heal new stretch marks, or you can reduce the appearance of old stretch marks.

Before using any of these remedies however, there are several lifestyle habits you can incorporate to get the most out of them. You can use the home remedies given below without having these habits but they will not be as effective as they could be.

These habits will minimize your chances of developing stretch marks and improve the elasticity of your skin so that it can withstand stretching without the breaking of skin fibers that leads to stretch marks. They will also help your body to be able to heal better as well as the stretch marks your targeting.

3 Lifestyle Habits to Help You Get the Most From Your Stretch Mark Treatment

Natural Stretch Mark Remedies

Staying Hydrated Can Greatly Increase Your Skin’s Elasticity

1 – Stay Hydrated:

If you’re not drinking enough water, your skin loses its elasticity and becomes more prone to tearing when physical changes to your body occur. Staying hydrated means you should drink at least 8-10 large glasses of water every day.

2 – Get Enough Sleep:

If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will be unable to heal itself and build back up. You should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night and it is during this time that your body will be using the nutrients it has to build up your immune system, repair skin cells, and so much more.

3 – Eat Well:

Natural Remedies for Stretch Marks

Eating a Well-Balanced Diet Can Increase Your Skin’s Elasticity

It’s not surprising that the health of our skin is determined by what goes into our bodies. If we continually eat sugar and processed foods, it weakens our body as well as our skin. The remedies listed below can never work to their full potential if our bodies don’t have the nutrients and vitamins they need to rebuild the affected areas.

Things You Can Eat to Increase Your Skin’s Elasticity

  • Gelatin (mix 1 TBS in a cup of hot water, add 2 tsp of honey if you wish)
  • Vitamin C (Citrus fruits, leafy greens, broccoli, tomatoes)
  • Vitamin K (green vegetables)
  • Zinc (wheat germ, lean beef, spinach, nuts, beans, yogurt, pumpkin seeds)
  • Fermented Cod Liver Oil
  • Organic Meats (high in good proteins)
  • Organic Eggs
  • Organic Fruits and Vegetables

With the lifestyle habits mentioned above in mind, here are some natural remedies for stretch marks.

6 Natural Stretch Mark Removal Remedies

Egg Whites

Egg whites can help to drastically reduce the appearance of stretch marks because they contain a good variety of proteins that help to rebuild the skin. They contain vitamin A and collagen, both of which are remedies in themselves to heal stretch marks.

How to Use

  • Separate the egg whites from the yolk

  • Apply a small amount of coconut oil to the stretch marks and leave it there to increase the skin’s elasticity.
  • Repeat this daily and after a couple weeks you should start seeing some noticeable results!

Potato Juice

Potato juice can help heal stretch marks because it contains several vitamins and minerals that help restore and rebuild skin cells. It also has antioxidants that help by preventing or slowing skin cell damage.

Natural Stretch Mark Remedies - Potato Water

Potato Water

How to Use

  • Take a large potato and cut it into smaller, thick pieces.
  • Using one of the pieces you cut, rub it gently on the stretch marks for 5-10 minutes.
  • As you apply to potato juice make sure it covers the entire stretch mark
  • Let the juice dry into your skin then rinse it off with warm water
  • Apply a small amount of coconut oil to the stretch marks and leave it there to hydrate and increase the skin’s elasticity.
  • Repeat this daily and after a couple weeks you should start seeing some noticeable results!

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is used in many anti-aging serums as well as anti-wrinkle serums. It works by increasing your blood circulation and this in turn reduces your stretch marks.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree oil has long been used to treat skin problems. It has several anti-inflammatory properties that help to heal your skin and it has been used in many natural acne care products. If you have sensitive skin you should only use this treatment sparingly.

Tea Tree Oil

How to Use

  • Mix 1 tsp of coconut oil with a couple drops of tea tree oil
  • Take a small amount of the mixture on your fingers
  • Rub it into the stretch marks for about 5 minutes
  • Wash off with warm water
  • Apply a small amount of coconut oil to the stretch marks and leave it there to hydrate and increase the skin’s elasticity.
  • Repeat this daily and after a couple weeks you should start seeing some noticeable results!

Sugar & Lemon Juice:

White sugar can help with stretch marks because it can be used as an exfoliator. In fact, many skin products contain sugar or salt for this reason. Lemon juice too can be used alone as a remedy by directly applying it to the stretch marks and leaving it for a couple minutes. This works because it has a lot of Vitamin C in it and is acidic, making it a great way to help stretch marks fade away.

As an exfoliating treatment, I really like using a combination of sugar, lemon juice, and olive oil twice a week while I shower. People with oily skin may want to three or four times a week.  You don’t want to do it too often, as it may irritate your skin. Also, as you exfoliate, don’t scrub your skin very hard or it can cause more damage then it will heal.

How to Use

Treat Stretch Marks with Sugar

White Sugar

  • Mix 1 TBS of sugar with lemon juice and and a small amount of olive oil.
  • Gently apply mixture to the stretch marks and use an exfoliating brush to gently exfoliate the stretch marks.
  • Instead of moving up and down your stretch marks as you exfoliate, move your brush in a circular pattern and gently move over your stretch marks.
  • Do this gently for about 15 minutes. (As a note: I actually like to use this to exfoliate my entire body because I’ve seen great results with it. If you’re doing this, you want to start from your feet and gently move up your entire body and pay special attention to the areas with stretch marks.)
  • Rinse off with the coldest water you can stand so that your pores will close back up.
  • After your shower, apply a small amount of coconut oil or your favorite lotion to the stretch marks and leave it there to hydrate and increase your skin’s elasticity.
  • Repeat this at least twice a week and, after a couple weeks, you should start seeing some noticeable results!

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is used in so many products meant to treat skin problems because it contains plant collagen and has healing properties that can help to rebuild and rejuvenate your skin. It has soothing properties that make it a great product to give relief from sunburns and also heals the skin. It’s very easy to use and you can use it directly from the aloe vera plant or use an aloe vera gel from the store. (I personally just use it directly from the plant).

  • Wash aloe vera off with warm water.

Hi Jessica, thanks for the info. I wanted to mention that argan oil is great as well. There are many brands on the market now that can be used for every purpose on the body. The cream, regular or light oil varieties are perfect and absorb into the skin really fast leaving it beautiful and fading stretch marks over time. Great site!

    • Jessica Camden says:

Thanks hun. I have heard quite a bit about argan oil since I put this post together. I need to try it and see how it compares. 🙂

  4. You have a fantastic website. The elasticity of my stomach skin was completely ruined by my second and third pregnancies. Dermatologists don’t even know what to call my situation because it is beyond stretch marks. I was wondering, of the above natural remedies you laid out, which ones do you believe are the most effective? It seems like it takes time to see results with skin remedies, so I was wondering in what order you would recommend trying the above remedies or would you mix and match? 2016 is my year of “The Belly Quest” to get my belly back after three kids. I am systematically trying different skin remedies and techniques to treat diastasis recti to determine which work best. Your website is extremely informative and helpful. Thank you so much!

    • Thank you hun! I really hope some of the things I have here can help you and any other mom looking to improve their post baby body! It really is true that when we feel like we look good we feel better! I know everything has made a phenomenal difference for me and I’d love to make a difference for other moms.

I can’t really compare my situation to yours but I too got quite a bit of stretch marks on my stomach 🙁 I was so ashamed every time I looked down at it. I have had a lot of success in diminishing the look of my stretch marks. As to which of these I would recommend for you it does depend on your skin type. I would strongly recommend you incorporate the lifestyle habits I mentioned above because they really will enable you to get the best results possible from whatever you use to treat it.

It does take a while to start seeing results from stretch mark treatment. For you I’d recommend you try gently exfoliating the stretch marks twice a week during your shower with the sugar, lemon, & olive oil. Daily, I would try using the egg whites the way I’ve laid out above. I would also recommend trying essential oils.

Also, I don’t know if you’re interested in a stretch mark cream, but I’ve actually had some really great results with the first one here if you want to try it. It’s not too expensive and I was really surprised at how quickly it started working.

Above everything though I would recommend you incorporate the lifestyle habits mentioned here because that will greatly affect the results you get from whatever treatment you choose. I wish you the best of luck hun! I know what kind of havoc having three kids can wreak on your body and it is very hard to get it back but I’m living proof that it’s possible. I honestly was able to heal my diastasis completely using the techniques I’ve listed on this website 🙂 As I started, the most I hoped for was that I’d be able to heal it most of the way; I didn’t dare dream that it could be gone completely!

I hope what I have here can help you in your quest and I really wish you the best of luck! If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask!

My wife has struggled with her self esteem for a while because of her Stretch Marks. I know she has tried a lot of different things, but I noticed a couple on here that she has not. I will definitely recommend them to her and hopefully one of them will help her. I will stop back and let you know how it works. Thanks for sharing!

    • Jessica Camden says:

I know exactly what you mean. After my son was born I was so ashamed every time I looked down at my stomach. I just felt sick and was always trying to cover them up. I really hope some of these will work for her! The ones I really liked was the sugar and lemon, the cocoa butter, and the aloe vera. Also if you’re looking for any creams that are used to reduce stretch marks, I’ve had great success with the first one listed on this page. I wish you the best of look and look forward to hearing back from you!

      Happy New Years Eve!

  6. Juan says:

First of all, let me thank you for providing NATURAL remedies. This is such a huge plus for me. I believe that the three lifestyle habits that help people get the most from the stretch mark treatments apply to many things. It all comes down to living a healthy lifestyle.

From the six natural stretch mark removal remedies that you recommend the one that I am leaning towards is the tea tree oil since it has long been used to treat skin problems. Thank you for sharing!

    • Jessica Camden says:

I too am always looking for natural solutions and remedies to different things in my life. I agree that these three lifestyle habits apply to much more than just getting the best results from your stretch mark treatment! In my mind the benefits it gives your skin is just an added bonus on top of everything else it does for you.

Sugar, aloe vera, cocoa butter, and tea tree oil have all been used for a long time as remedies for skin conditions. I think the tea tree one is a great solution as long as your careful about how much you use. You don’t need a whole lot of it 🙂 If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

      Thank you for reading 🙂

    • Jessica Camden says:

Wow thank you 🙂 I really hope the things I’ve laid out can help other moms in my situation to get their body into the shape they want. I’ve learned the wrong way to do things and the right way for me. Hopefully others can lean from my mistakes without having to make those mistakes too. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving your comment!
